Privacy Policy

The short version
Your local's data belongs to your local. We use it only to run the Service, we keep each local's data separated, and we never sell it — phone numbers least of all. You can access, export, or delete your data any time.
This Privacy Policy explains what information labor.dog (the "Service") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to union locals and their members who use the Service. By using labor.dog, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use the Service:
- Account information: Name, email address, union local number, and local name provided during registration.
- Member & roster data: Information your local adds to manage its membership, such as contact details, roles, and committee assignments.
- Documents you upload: Contracts, policies, and other files your local stores in or submits to the Service, including for use with AI features.
- Usage data: How you interact with the Service, including pages visited and features used.
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address, used for security and analytics.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
- Verify your union local's affiliation;
- Power features you choose to use, including AI analysis of documents your local uploads;
- Communicate with you about your account and the Service;
- Improve the Service and develop new features.
Signing In with Google
If your union local enables it, you can sign in with your Google account. When you do, we receive only your name and email address from Google, and we use them solely to match and log you into your existing labor.dog account. Signing in with Google never creates a new account, and we do not access, store, or share any other Google data. You can always sign in with your email and password instead.
How Your Data Is Stored and Secured
Your data is stored securely, and we apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it. Each union local's data is logically separated within our system so that one local cannot access another local's information.
AI Processing of Your Documents
When your local uses our AI features, documents you upload are processed to generate answers, summaries, and draft language for your local. This processing is performed solely to provide the feature to you. Your documents are not used to train third-party AI models, and they are not shared with other locals.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With your direction or consent — for example, when your local sends communications to its own members;
- With service providers who help us operate the Service (such as payment processing, email delivery, and SMS delivery), under contracts that restrict their use of the data;
- When required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of labor.dog, our users, or the public.
SMS / Text Messaging
Union locals using labor.dog may send text messages (SMS) to their members through the Service. Messages members may receive include alerts, announcements, news, event reminders, and other communications from their union local.
No mobile information (including phone numbers) collected for the purpose of sending text messages will be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party. Phone numbers are used solely to deliver messages from the member's own union local through our messaging provider (Twilio), which processes the messages on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using the data for any other purpose.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, and can reply HELP for assistance. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. For full details on the messaging program, see our Terms of Service.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you cancel your account, we will delete your data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Request deletion of your data;
- Export your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@labor.dog.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the Service.
